Areas of Specialism: I work mainly with Adults but also work with Adolescents and young people ranging in ages from 13-25 years. Having worked at University College London as a University counsellor I have good experience of working with young people making the transition from home to University and the complex array of issues this change presents.
Personal Approach: I mainly work on an open ended basis but also am happy to work on a more time limited basis depending on your needs. I tend to work in a psychodynamic way.
Psychodynamic theory explains personality in terms of unconscious psychological processes (such as fears or wishes of which we’re not fully aware), and contends that childhood experiences are crucial in shaping adult personality.
So, in the therapy I attempt to explore the patient’s unconscious thoughts and emotions so that the person is better able to understand him or herself with the aim of leading a more fulfilling life.
Having worked in a number of different settings though I am also proficient in Cognitive Behavioural Techniques and thinking and incorporate these where necessary.
